Lesson 3 of 3 · 5 min

Where an interpretation comes from

How does a sentence in your reading follow from a placement?

The explanation

Every chapter carries a line called Technical basis. It is the short account of where that chapter came from, and it is the quickest way to inspect an interpretation rather than simply take it.

The line names three things: the placement your chart supplied, such as a Sun in Leo; the symbolism Horospire attaches to that planet and that sign; and the framework in which the two are combined. Read in that order it is a chain you can follow, from chart fact to editorial meaning to chapter sentence. If a sentence in the chapter does not trace back to the placement named in the basis line, your chart did not produce it.

The basis line also carries what is uncertain. When the birth time is unknown it says the Moon position uses a reference time and may differ at the real one. When a placement sits on a sign boundary it names the canonical sign the calculation kept, so a two-sign display label does not quietly turn into two interpretations.

What the chain is not is evidence. It shows how a symbolic reading was assembled and where it can be checked; it does not show that a placement causes anything. Follow it to decide what to keep and what to set aside.

Written from the Technical basis line shown under each chapter, and chapter 1 (Sun: identity and direction), which every reader can open.

In a chart

This is a made-up chart, shown so the lesson has something to point at. It is not your chart and says nothing about you.

Placement
Example: Sun in Leo
Technical basis
Example: Based on the saved Sun placement in Leo. The chapter combines that sign with Sun symbolism in Horospire's modern seven-generation framework.

Check yourself

Optional. Nothing is scored, nothing is saved and skipping it costs you nothing.

A basis line reads: "Based on the saved Sun placement in Leo." What can that line support?
Show the answer and why

The symbolic interpretation, and nothing beyond it. The basis line supports exactly one thing: the chapter built from the placement it names. It does not establish biography, ancestry or a future event. When a sentence reaches further than the chain in the basis line, treat it as editorial and set it aside.
