Nine centres, the 36 channels between them and the 64 gates: the body graph is drawn from your birth date, time and place, with two columns of activations. The Personality column is the sky at the birth minute. The Design column is the sky when the Sun stood 88 degrees of arc earlier.
From the graph it names the type, the strategy, the authority, the profile, the definition and the incarnation cross. The birth minute matters: the Moon moves about half a degree an hour and a gate is 5.625 degrees wide, so the Moon's gate and line can change within an hour.

What is a Human Design chart?
This Human Design chart calculator draws the body graph from a birth date, time and place: nine centres, the 36 channels between them and the 64 gates, with two columns of activations. Human Design, a system Ra Uru Hu began teaching in 1987, joins the zodiac to the I Ching's 64 hexagrams and reads type, strategy, authority and profile from which centres are defined. The house reports the system in its own words and makes no claim about it.
How do I read my Human Design chart?
In the order the result prints it. A placement close to a gate's edge is flagged first, as borderline. Then the type, which the system reads from the graph: whether the Sacral centre is defined, and whether a motor centre is joined to the Throat. The strategy is the system's teaching for that type, and the authority is its name for how that type is taught to decide, following from which centres are defined. The profile is two numbers, the line of the Sun at birth and the line of the Sun on the Design side. The definition says how the defined centres connect, and the incarnation cross is named from the gates of the two Suns and the two Earths. The house reports the system in its own words and makes no claim about it.
What are the 5 Human Design Types?
The system names five: the Manifestor, the Generator, the Manifesting Generator, the Projector and the Reflector. The type follows from the graph: whether the Sacral centre is defined, and whether a motor centre is joined to the Throat. Each type has a strategy in the system's teaching.
Why do I need my exact birth time for Human Design?
The Moon moves about half a degree an hour, a gate is 5.625 degrees wide and a line under one degree, so the Moon's gate and line can change within an hour, and with them a channel, the definition and sometimes the type or the authority. The profile is the line of the Sun at birth and on the Design side, which moves only about a degree a day. Without a time the date gives the Sun's gate and the Moon's range for the day.
What is the design side of the chart?
The chart has two columns. The Personality is the sky at the birth minute. The Design is the sky when the Sun stood 88 degrees of arc earlier, which is between about 86 and 91 days before birth, not a fixed 88 days; the page prints that instant. Here the Personality is drawn in solid ink and the Design dashed in a lighter ink.
How accurate is this Human Design calculator?
The positions come from the house's ephemeris, built on the public-domain Meeus algorithms. An accuracy test in the house's own test suite compares them with NASA JPL's DE440s ephemeris at 575 moments from 1900 to 2050: the largest differences it has found there are 6.28 arcminutes for Mars, about a tenth of a degree, and 4.49 for the Moon, and sampled once a day across the same years they reach 6.72 and 6.51. The accuracy study gives every figure, with its data. Two choices are named on every chart: the method revision, and the mean lunar node. Some Human Design software uses the true node, which can stand up to about 1.7 degrees away and place a node in the neighbouring gate; a placement that close to a gate's edge is flagged as borderline.
