Knowing all three gives a far richer picture of you than your Sun sign alone.

Your Sun sign only needs the date, but the Moon moves through a sign every two and a half days and the Rising sign changes roughly every two hours. To pin them down accurately we need your exact birth time and the place you were born, so the chart can be set for the right horizon.

Your Sun is who you are at your core - your drive and identity. Your Moon is how you feel and what you need emotionally, often private. Your Rising is the mask you meet the world with - your instinctive style and first impressions. Together they describe being, feeling, and seeming.

This calculator uses public-domain Meeus astronomical algorithms. Your Sun and Moon signs are reliable. Your Rising sign depends on an accurate birth time and cannot be computed reliably inside the polar circles, where the Ascendant is mathematically undefined.
