Total solar eclipse 2 August, 10:07 UTC, Leo 9°55'

2027 horoscope: the year's sky, sign by sign Five eclipses, one of them total.

The Sun goes dark over Leo on 2 August at 10:07 UTC; Jupiter leaves Leo for Virgo on 26 July; Saturn keeps Aries all year; Mercury turns back three times, Mars once, Venus not at all.

The year's sky is one sky for everyone. Each sign's page counts it from that sign's Sun, house by house.

Written by Horospire as fixed text, the same for every reader. The planetary positions are computed, not written; see how the reading is computed.

About this page

How the dates are computed

Every date on this page was computed for 2027 by Horospire's own ephemeris, in universal time (UTC); a reader west of Greenwich may see an evening event dated a day earlier in their calendar. The engine is a Meeus-series ephemeris measured against NASA JPL's DE440 at 551,520 placements from 1900 to 2050: the Sun within 0.15 arcminutes on average, the planets within 0.4 to 0.8, the Moon within 1.2; about one placement in 3,600 lands in a different sign, always within a few arcminutes of a sign's edge. For 2027 the New and Full Moons on this page fall within eight minutes of NASA's published times, the Sun's sign changes within five minutes, the stations of Mercury, Venus and Mars within two hours, and those of the outer planets within seven hours, which is why an outer planet's station is given as "around" a date. Eclipse dates, kinds and types are NASA's; the degree of each eclipse is the New or Full Moon computed by this engine, within two arcminutes of JPL's. Retrograde dates for Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn come from a station table cross-checked against two independent ephemerides and held to this engine by a test on every run; the outer planets' stations are computed. Houses are counted from your Sun sign in whole signs, a convention, not a measurement; the lunar nodes are the mean nodes; which planet rules which sign is the classical tradition. Accurate positions say nothing about whether astrology is true: the arithmetic is measured, the reading is not.

How this page differs from the month's

This Month's Sky follows the Moon through one calendar month and changes every month. This page is the year's sky, fixed for the year: the eclipses, the stations and the two slow planets' signs, and the twelve signs' pages for 2027.

The pictures

The eclipse at the top is drawn, not photographed: the Sun's and the Moon's discs at the sizes the house's ephemeris gives for that day. The photographs of Jupiter and Saturn are NASA's.
